What is the theme of 2019 Earth Day?

Earth Day is the yearly occasion celebrated worldwide on 22nd April consistently and one subject is chosen for earth day and the topic of 2019 earth day is to protect and save every species exists on this planet. The Earth Day, established by Senator Gaylord Nelson. He had been an observer to the devastation caused by a huge oil spill in Santa Barbara, California in 1969 propounded the idea to celebrate the earth day.


The first earth day was celebrated in 1970 to promote natural balance and regard for life on the planet just as to support familiarity with the developing issues of air, water, and soil contamination. On the International earth day, different ecological issues like contamination of the sea, debris left over the land, environmental change, preservation of the Earth's biological communities etc. are addressed.

 Earth Day Theme 2019

The subject for earth day 2018 was to end the plastic contamination and the theme of 2019 earth day is to protect and save all the categories of animals. The earth day network selects the theme of every earth day and runs the awareness programs in the world for the welfare, protection and the saving of the planet.

In order to maintain a sound environmental equalization on this planet, every single species, for example, creatures, plants, and marine are equally important as people.  All species on this planet has a unique place in the food chain and contributes to the ecosystem in its own manner. The eradication of species happens occurs either due to natural activities like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis etc. or man-made activities like climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution, and pesticides etc.

Several Species already extinct on the earth like white Cheetah, Dinosaur, Dodo, Passenger Pigeon etc. and several other animals are very close to annihilation. The list of endangered species is rhinos, elephants, lions, tigers, leopard, jaguars, whales, sharks etc. It is important to make the strict move to save wildlife; otherwise, the time will come soon when they will find a place only on the list of extinct species.

The goal of 2019 Earth Day Theme is to raise awareness among the peoples about the rapid rate of extinction of millions of species and the causes and the consequences of this phenomenon.

How Can We Save Them?

There must be several solutions to protect them. I do understand that we can’t do much for natural calamities but we can control our action. It is in our hands.  There are several options available to support the earth day theme of this year.

1. Stop buying clothes made of animal skins.

2. Stop eating animal and opt for food based on the plant only.

3. Stop Hunting or the killing of the species only for the few bucks.

Here, I suggested several solutions but the best solution I would like to recommend is to start loving the species exist on the planet. Spend some time with animals and know about them. It is a well-known fact that, once you start loving them, you will start protecting them as well.
